Nancy great points which of course bring us back to 2500 years of moral philosophy. Depending on the theory we embrace the focus of "good" is either on the act itself (deontology), the actor (virtue ethics), or the consequences (utilitarianism) - and much else (care ethics, contract/dialogic ethics, pragmatism etc) in between. As far as I'm concerned, taking the VE position as a base, as coaches our focus should be both on character - both at Individual and institutional level (which is the frame for the Leadership role). Only when the moral scaffolding is in place can we worry about adaptiveness and agility...
